Sixty-three days after they were sworn-in as councillors, the Isoko South Legislative Arm, led by Rt. Hon. Abizire Bright Olokor, has suspend the councilors representing Oleh Ward 1B, and Olomoro Ward 6A, over alleged Gross Misconduct and violation of the House rules in Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State.
Their suspension was confirmed by the Leader of the Legislative Arm, when contacted by Politicsgovernance.com and they have been referred to the disciplinary committee.
According to source, Hon Onoriode Obeuwou is suspended for twenty (20) sitting days, while Hon Nero Umeh who is the committee chairman on Ethics and Privileges is suspended for ten (10) sitting legislative days respectively.
“Both of them have been referred to the disciplinary committee of the Legislative Arm for further advice and recommendations.” The source revealed.
Speaking to the Politicsgovernance.com, Leader of the Isoko South Legislative Arm, Rt Hon Abizire Bright Olokor said, “Oga, don worry, we suspended them and we are on the matter, what they did is against the House rules and we have already suspended them, I will not talk much.”
Reacting to his suspension, Hon Onoriode Obeuwou said, “You can Speak to the other persons first before I will talk to you, but when told that the leader of the House confirmed his suspension, he said, if he say so, that is not my problem.”
Efforts to speak with the councilor representing Oloromo Ward 6A, Hon Nero Umeh was not successful, but a statement obtained on his social media handle, he said, I received a message last night like every other honourable councilor and from the content of the message the sitting was slated for 9:am.
“By 8:20.am, I arrived the Chambers with other colleagues and surprisingly, the sitting was at the verge of closing and the issue I met was a different one, as my attention was not drawn to any.
